THE SMERALDA FOOD PROFILE




SFYS is a company specializing in the food business and beverage, supplying Yachts and Mega Yachts throughout Sardinia, Corsica, the Mediterranean and beyond. SFYS has been provisioning yachts since 1993 under the supervision of Vito.
Vito is an insightful entrepreneur with a background in the Fishing Industry. In the 1990s, Vito worked as a fishing expert for the Ministry of the Merchant Navy and as a fish technician counsellor for the European Community in Fishing and Aquaculture, Cooperation and Development. As a consultant for both hand crafted and industrial fishing, he worked within Italian and European Cooperation Projects in developing countries, mainly in Asia and Africa, while throughout the summer he fished on the Costa Smeralda Sea, selling seafood to the yachts in Porto Cervo and Cala di Volpe. He got to know many yacht captains and chefs and established a network of relationships where his knowledge of the marine world and his expertise on marine biology were always appreciated. At that time there were not supply agencies in Porto Cervo therefore, chefs in an attempt to overcome the shortage of supplies, asked Vito to supply them with fruit and vegetables, meat and staples in addition to fish.
In 2003 Vito started a company, Smeralda Food Yacht Service, with the aim of providing the finest provisions to yachts in prestigious Porto Cervo and in the surrounding areas of Costa Smeralda.
In 2004 Roberta, Vito’s daughter, joined the team and made a high contribution with her enthusiasm and her skills in public relations.
A wider supply system was thus set up and included a variety of services ranging from port bookings to jet and helicopter rental which led to the set up of IYS, International Yacht Service.
